Electrical & Electronics
Our Science Corner highlights ideas in electrical engineering and electronics that could change how we move energy and how we connect with technology.

Three phases on one conductor
Conventional AC power lines carry electricity in three phases, each on its own conductor — which is why transmission towers carry wires in sets of three. Carrying all three phases on a single conductor would be a revolution in electrical transmission.
Fewer conductors could mean lighter towers, less material, narrower corridors and lower costs — making it easier to bring reliable power to growing cities and remote regions alike.
Brain Antenna — a neural interface
A neural interface lets the brain communicate directly with a computer or device. A “brain antenna” refers to tiny wireless components that can send and receive signals to and from neural sensors, without cables.
Such technology could one day help people with paralysis control prosthetic limbs, restore lost senses, or communicate — a powerful example of electronics in the service of human health.
Israel and the electronics world
Israel is home to major research and design centers for many of the world's leading technology companies. Engineers in Haifa, for example, designed processors used in hundreds of millions of laptops, and Israeli startups have pioneered driver-assistance and chip technologies used globally.
